Design and construction of a full lace wig. This work was researched and created for the BA Major Project into Queen Elizabeth 1. This was to show the poignant woman we all know as the original power dresser and compare the public face of the Queen and also without all the makeup and jewelled decorative adornment. Behind the crown there laid a woman who aged, also used toxic substances on her skin, this design is what the Queen may have looked liked privately when stripped. The wig was specially made to fit the model, which took copious hours to ventilate as the hair needed to be thin and single knotted. Silicone was applied around the hairline to depict the time period and applied into the crown where having researched hair loss was most apparent on the scalp. To aid this design, application of a bald cap will needed ito enhance transparency.
